Yesterday, the revised concept for the Atlanta Falcons Stadium was approved by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, according to the AJC.  The “Pantheon” concept won wide approval from fans and authorities alike, over the other, more timid design.

But to improve upon the dynamic concept, the architects enlarged the oculus roof opening and added an enormous “window” from which to view the Atlanta skyline.  The architects said they also will make the exterior out of a high technology transparent material which will become opaque as sun and weather conditions require.

A promenade park will surround the stadium for year round use.  Part of the $1 billion for the new stadium are planned to revitalize the neighborhoods just west of the site– Vine City and English Avenue.
