Happy Holidays from Georgia
When I was a young child growing up in Sandy Springs,
my family would go to Rich’s Downtown to ride The Pink Pig,
which hung on the rooftop of the huge 7 floor department store. I always loved to go downtown, I knew that’s where everything exciting was happening and giant buildings towered overhead. They had just built the first several 18-23 story buildings of Peachtree Center and the fabulous Hyatt Regency Atlanta with the blue “flying saucer” revolving restaurant on the roof. Davison‘s (later Macy’s) huge department store was there, too. But Atlantans loved Rich’s; only Rich’s had The Pink Pig and the Great Christmas Tree on the roof of the Crystal Bridge over Forsyth Street. Choirs would line up on all 4 levels of the glass bridge and sing carols while they lit up the tree. It was wonderful.

Ok, enough nostalgia…
